The main goal of this project is to strengthen collaboration among UNITA researchers by building a transnational, interdisciplinary partnership focused on circular economy strategies in the food sector.
Through CIRCLE-Food, we aim to improve the circularity potential of small entrepreneurs or associations in the food sector, analyzing how local policies, community involvement and circular branding strategies can reduce food waste and promote sustainability
at the city level. By exploring different case studies from the four European cities, the project aims to understand and then improve the circularity potential of small entrepreneurs.
The project addresses social, economic, and legal challenges of circularity by promoting knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis. By identifying and sharing food policy best practices, it enhances the visibility and resilience of
small enterprises, enabling them to become agents of change. Through mutual learning workshops, mapping of narratives, and assessment of legal and branding frameworks, we aim to build a cross-national CE ecosystem tailored to local specificities. Activities will include stakeholder mapping, co-creation sessions with local businesses, NGOs, and policymakers, and the development of an open-access toolkit for circular branding and
policy recommendations and dissemination materials for consumers. It is proposed to carry out a mutual learning exchange and visiting exchange, and to include interested local actors.
